User adjustable Abloy furniture lock

This lock has been in market for several years but wanted to share with you because it has a nice feature.
The user can decide if they want the key to retain in lock or not. Old days you had to decide already in the shop which way you want to use it and when you took the product to the customer they might wonder why it works so and so... Much more convenient this newer style!

This is done by turning a hex screw a couple of rounds with 1,5mm allen wrench when the lock is in locked position. The little hole in the middle of the lock:

These have also shrinked in progress during decades, first the mounting diameter was 23,1-23,5mm, then 21,9mm and now it´s 19,9mm.

I was wondering if there are other similar products available and how are they executed? Not only furniture locks but in general.

@zeepia:

Key retaining versus non-key retaining locks...

With padlocks is can be as simple as an additional part which can be added in the field (the Abus "Z" bar for example) or require replacing the actuator like with American padlocks (1/2 circle for retaining, 1/4 circle for non-retaining on the hub the cylinder interacts with)...

As far as furniture locks...

There are several styles and manufacturers, many OEM's offer a cabinet or drawer lock on their full-size keyways which can be master keyed into a building's keying system... Prominent among them are: Olympus Lock, Best Access Systems and CompX (National, Fort, etc)...

As far as whether or not a furniture lock is key retaining or not, that depends on the type of bolt, latch bolt type locks are usually key retaining, while dead bolt type locks can be left in either state... The smaller cam type peanut sized cylinder locks made by Olympus Lock or CompX National are determined by the type of the cylinder (direct motion = key retaining, 270-degree lost motion = can be left in either state)... To my knowledge none of these locks can be field modified and you must know whether you want the lock to be key retaining or not when you select the lock itself...

Thank you Evan for the information, it still looks like this one is most handy so far. I mean, with no spare parts needed.

I think it would be nice to have this feature in generally wider use, even with the same particular lock other user might want to operate it in different way...
Therefore they should ditch even the hex screw and replace it with a simple switch!

abloy locks are so sweet! they look good, perform well, and have an excellent level of security. oh, and the keys look awesome as well. I really like that the user can decide if they want this lock to be key retaining, or not.
I punched punctuation right in the face!
