Question about window entry and window locks.

Postby NovElite » 4 Jul 2014 22:48

Hi i'm a soon to be licensed locksmith out of MN. At the moment i'm pretty confident in my lock picking abilities to pick any average residential lock and business lock. That said where i feel that i fall short is a good understanding of window locks. I always like to have a plan of attack when gaining entry which is, shim- rake- pick gun- electric pick- zipping- then if all else fails spp. My SPP isnt my weakpoint but as you know can take the longest but more often than not will work. Did a little research and web searches regarding window entry and there isnt much info out there that i found. So was wondering if theres any major source of window techniques that someone knows about or has ran across. Just looking to add more to my plan of attack if i come across a random beast of a lock. If you noticed i didn't mention drills thats because i dont carry one, damage to a clients property is only a last resort and in my opinion should only need to be used in an emergency. Any and all feed back is welcome, thank you for your time.

Either way, you will have to do "some" damage to their window to get the latch to open. Don't see any sense in engineering a secure window if you can shim/long reach tool it open.

Only way I can think of bypassing it is by using a destructive technique, but I'm not sure I can tell you how to open it since this would qualify it as destructive entry.
