USCAN KIK Springs

USCAN KIK Springs

Postby makrus2 » 18 Oct 2014 16:41

I recently dropped a spring and the cap retention pin spring from a Weiser keyway USCAN key-in-knob cylinder. As luck would have it I then proceeded to roll over them with my chair and smash them. Does anyone have advice on where I can get a new cap retention pin spring to return the lock to its previous state? I'm willing to buy a kit, or even a replacement lock as a last resort though I'd rather not spend the $45, as long as it has cap retention pin springs.

if you have access to a Schlage kit, the cap retaining spring might work.

In my experience, retention pin springs are interoperable. The one exception is Baldwin. Their retention pin holes have a smaller diameter and won't accept any other spring but their own. So, have another cylinder to salvage one from? In lieu of that, you can find the springs online.

If you have any old General Motors side bar type wafer springs they can work very well. They are generally long and can be cut to the size needed.
