I think this is a new idea. Or at least I had never heard of a lock working in this manner?

Hey, that's a pretty novel idea! If applied properly, it could be an interesting security measure, but you would have to somehow make sure that someone couldn't get into it by simply having a color wheel with all possible colors of the visible spectrum on it. Very, very cool, but I couldn't trust it to protect my valuables. Maybe I'm just old fashioned though.
