DIAMANT LOCK

Postby maddy420 » 26 Dec 2014 10:47

Hi,

I want to buy a secure lock for my front door. In this regard, i have the following questions.
1) What is a DIAMANT lock?
2) Is 11 Pin Dimple keys Lock hard to pick lock? (I know that no lock is secure)
3) What should be the ideal diameter for a shake - Is 12mm hard shackle the standard ones?
4) When someone says my lock can withstand a force of 1.5 Tons - Is this a strong enough?

Would be helpful, if a lock expert can answer these questions.

Where are you located?

Based on your questions, you are asking about a padlock. You want to put a padlock on your front door?

The first thing to consider with a padlock is that there are other bypass/destructive entry methods on padlocks. Picking will probably never come into play.

The other thing to keep in mind is that most intruders will come in by smashing windows/breaking in doors/etc. not by going in through the front door. Ask yourself how you would get into your house if you didn't have a key and didn't care about damaging things.

That is one cool padlock, one thing to remember about a padlock is how scary fast a cut-off tool in a die grinder will cut the shackle. I would be surprised if it held up for 30 seconds, before parting. There are some shackle protecting options out there, I know i have a few called "the turtle" in my shop, it is basically a piece of heavy steel bent 90 degrees with a post welded inside. Once locked into the padlock hasp, it will keep the cut-off tool away, but probably not buy more than a few minutes of additional protection.

Plenty of padlocks available that look similar to the one pictured that cost from $15 on up. Why not just lock a cheap one on to your mount?

I thought that Hardened Steel is difficult to break-in the shackle. Is 12mm Shackle width made of hardened steel considered high security lock?

What do you make out of 11 pin or 14 pins dimple keys?

Almost seems like the harder the metal, the faster the cut-off wheel goes through it
12mm sounds thick enough to keep most bolt cutters from being able to crack it though
