I like to pick my Abus padlocks with a Peterson pry bar and a short hook. I like the way the mushrooms pins go pop pop pop!
However Abus padlocks that have a high low high low... bitting can often be a real chore to pick with a short hook.
With these guys I find that bottom of the key way tensioning used with a deforest diamond will often get the lock open. I go back and forth in the lock lifting slightly on the pins, allowing for reverse rotation. Eventually the lock pops opens. It can take several minutes.
Also muchroom pins lock are sometimes very vulnerable to standard raking.
