Great Practice Lock

The little MASTER LOTO (Lockout / Tagout) locks are excellent practice and they're cheap !! (Master 410 series).

For under $10 each you get 6 security pins and a small keyway. I purchased five and gutted one. It had 4 serrated and two spools if memory serves.

They have a plastic body, so gutting is a destructive process. A buddy and I had a good time with these little guys. They are NOT a "walk in the park".

You can pick 'em up on Amazon for around $8.00. They come in Red and Green.

Hint: A THIN pick and LIGHT tension is the "key" to these little guys !! I actually made a special pick just for these locks. Thinner than a Peterson DCAP if that gives you an idea.

I have a couple of these and they are good training for dealing with high pin count, security pins, and complex pinning.
One note of caution: always be sure not to rotate the plug beyond the limit of it's rotation when opened with a key. There is no rotation limiter other than the shoulder of the key impacting the warding on the shell, the body of the cylinder has bore-holes opposite the bible and the key pins will drop out of them if you turn it too far.
I destroyed my first one that way, the replacement had some un-Master Lock like pinning, from the very deep fist pin to the very radical (near max-MACS changes) pinning, it can be a serious challenge.
