Personally like the SpeedDial locks. They are by no means high security, but they are absolutely unshimmable in my experience. Have taken one apart, and they are really cool inside. Even had Snowyboy make a cutaway of one. Pictures of that are here on the site.
You can change the combination to be as many or as few moves as you want. There are a few videos on YouTube of using a wire to 'pick' them. They are bogus. They simply set the combination to no moves.
They do come in handy for our gates at home. We no longer need a key or a light to open them at night. My wife likes the keyless aspect. And as for security, why put a high security lock on a gate that any 8 year old kid can climb over? But it does work well for our power circuit breaker box outside the house. The other people in the neighborhood have had kids shutting off their power at night as a 'prank'. Not us, though. (Also, motion activated lighting helps, too.)
They are not expensive. About $7 USD from Home Depot. For the price, why not? If you need real security, get a real lock like a Kasp 190 or an Abloy PL362. But for simple things, or for the visually impaired, these are hard to beat for the price.
Also, the part that keeps the shackle locked is NOT plastic. It is fairly thick steel plate.
