Unknown lock mentioned in a TV series

Postby ARF-GEF » 23 Feb 2015 17:30

Hey everyone!

I've been watching a series called Elementary (a new take on the Sherlock franchise) on and off, and they mentioned a lock maker I don't recognise.
I know often they make up brands for TV, but not in this series, at least normally.
Since I'm not a native speaker I couldn't quite catch the name, despite that I'm fairly familiar with most US brand names.

It's in season 3 episode 15 (When your number's up). Mentioned 2 times, first when Watson visits the old apartment to claim the deposit (around 16:40 in the episode) and later when they talk about the apartment in the brownstone house (at around 23:20 from the beginning.)

If anyone watches and got the name, could he let me know what it is? I'm curious if it's a bogus name, of not and if now what it is. It's just the thing that irks you :D
Thanks for your help :)

total BS... "Fenst-Makker" ? hah.. never heard of anything remotely close.. I *think* In German that would be Window Maker if I can take liberty for a very loose translation, but mh will have to help us out with that =)

if anyone else wants to try to give it a listen: http://www.cbs.com/shows/elementary/vid ... mber-s-up/

update: Assa Abloy purchased an ornamental fence company, here was the headline: http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB100014240 ... 1730780578 HAHA. I wonder if that's the origin of the TV episode company.

My wife and I are both fans of Elementary and I recall that episode quite distinctly. As far as I know the brand name they mention on screen is completely made up.
Typically they avoid using brand-names (real or fictional) for security products on that show, they just talk about the type or quality of the device/system.

Supposedly the padlocks on display in Sherlock's home were selected based primarily on their appearance since they don't actually show them being used on-screen.

Can't access the video (they still use flash) but according to this transcript it's "Fenstermacher" which indeed means "window maker".
Also never heard of it before, but it seems to be unpickable. :D
