Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

I have seen some almighty lock collections on this forum. I thought it might be fun for everyone to post their most sought after lock as a collector or picker. It may already sit in your collection (lucky you), but let us all know what it is!

Not much of a collector, but my twin grails as a picker are a Medeco and a Schlage Primus.
I'm tantalizingly, infuriatingly close on both.

Mitch, the medico is an amazing buzz when you get it.. I've only managed 3 of them so far... the primus... not a hope for me, at this stage! Anything on this Photo for me will be a great personal achievement Gordon... i remember your predictions on this list

I was more thinking of an ultimate lock to add to your collection. Mine probably an S&G 951

I read that post with great interest and a healthy dose of jealousy! That DCP is the coolest lock ever. Being in Australia I'm very unlikely to ever stumble across a US military piece. I'll have to sell vital organs to collect them instead.

Well ignoring the classics/antiques it would be the Fichet F3D

One of my favorite locks in my collection is the Stanton Concepts RKS. I have a cutaway model from the first production run. Like the one here: https://securitysnobs.com/Stanton-Conce ... -Lock.htmlThere is an automatic dialer available, but I like the manual dialer for it: https://securitysnobs.com/Stanton-Conce ... ialer.htmlBut for locks I don't own yet, what I'd really like to get is a massive door like in a bank vault. The kind with glass on the back of the door so you can see the polished and jeweled steel gears and boltwork all around the perimeter of the door: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/bank ... owley.htmlOr if I can't make room for that in the house, I like those old fashioned strong boxes, with a fake keyway outside for people to waste their time trying to pick, and a hidden keyway that you open up like a trick box to get inside. They have intricately machined latches concealed inside the lid that latch all around the perimeter just like a bank vault.

I'll trade you a 951 (with keys) AND a Hi-Shear (with keys) for that NAPEC with keys! Didn't think so. But had to try! And Squelchtone's listed Bode Panzer Tangential is certainly droolworthy. The Fichet F3D is, of course, high on my list which has been growing shorter as time goes by. Still have not seen a single F3D aside from buying new, which is out of the question since I am not yet a winner of the lottery jackpot. Gordon
Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Ah Ha!! I see you've been paying attention and know that (at this point) half my collection doesn't have keys. Well, if you average the number of locks, and consider that the NAPEC has two sets of keys.... I'm doing OK. Don't worry Gordon, if I ever decide to part with my prize possession, you'll be the first to know.
