How to apply tension to this strange lock?

I have come across this in India. The key way is perfectly round. How are you supposed to apply any tension and with which tension tool?

Most frequently, the tip of the key has a slot cut into it, which fits onto a driver at the end of the keyway.

It looks like tension has already been applied to the door frame  A prime example of overtensioning

Anyone know? I hope that this type of lock doesn't put an end to lock picking.

Make a tool that mimics the tip of the key slot, if it has one.

Maxis also makes a round key without a slot in the tip. To pick that one, you need to tension the pins themselves. Personally use a tension wrench nearly as tall as the keyway and reaching at least half way in the keyway.

Are there any videos which show how to pick this type of lock?

I don't have a maxis, but in theory, I'd like to make a tool out of a piece of tubing with a slot cut in it the width of the pins. I think this tool would be easiest to use.
