Is there anyway to determine which key an environmental lock would need? Heres the lock Im bidding on. Bn 12 16 is stamped on the lock if that helps any.

Hello,
I don't know if that number is the code or not. I bought a couple for $5 each, and made keys from a table Bosnianbill had in one of his videos. I don't have that particular link, but here's a link that may be helpful? http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=57138&p=421274&hilit=s%26g+environmental#p421274 I have never seen anyone open one these without cutting a key from one of those codes. I wonder how difficult they would be to pick. Even if that lock doesn't have the code on it, I would still get it. You could cut tryout keys for it. If it is one with three disks, there could only be a maximum of 27 cuts. And you could eliminate the ones with all identical cuts. I would make them out of plastic tubing, and then make a more permanent key.

They are not that difficult to pick. Have picked some of them using a flat-bladed screwdriver.

I would ask how, but that might be advanced. Although if it's that easy, you could argue that it isn't. I guess it's still considered a high security lock though.

A seller on ebay is hand making very accurate looking Sargent Greenleaf environmental padlock key blanks that he will stamp with whichever key number you'd like and then you can file the cuts to your needs when you get the key. Bosnianbill has a good video showing the all the angles.
