3D Printed KIK Lock Holder

Postby buckeyes7 » 3 Mar 2016 1:14

Hey guy, first time posting on this forum. (Sorry if this doesn't belong in the "lockpicks" sub-forum, it was the best fitting one I could find. If it doesn't belong, let me know and I'll be happy to delete and repost.)

Over on the lockpicking subreddit, there was some talk about holders for KIK locks. I decided to make a nice handheld holder to keep our hands from getting those terrible indentations you get from holding KIK locks for too long. Here is the post on reddit.

Link to files on thingiverse.

You can add a M2.5 screw and nut to the holes if you'd like a set screw.

I had to play with the dimensions a little to get the lock to fit "snug" into the holder. So with my printer, the set screw isn't needed, the lock is tight as is. If anybody prints this, I'd love to hear how the fit is. I'm curious if the difference between printers will make a big difference. I'd love to hear any feedback...I'd love to make revisions to improve the design.

I'm still not too good with CAD, but am open to an design suggestions.

Enjoy!

Nice holder, thanks for sharing your design. I've made some with wood in the past, but nowadays everything must be 3D printed to be cool

Cheers :)

This is a decent idea. Normally, I put the bible of the lock into a vise. This would spread the pressure around, providing less risk to the KIK.

Keep the good ideas coming!

How much would you sell one for? I'm interested. I dont have a 3d Printer, and I dont want to crush the bible of the cylinder in my vice, and im tired of changing them out of dead bolt locks everytime i want to practice on one.

Sorry for the late reply.

I see blue60 already offered you one, but I'll do the same. If you'd like one (and preferably live in the US,) I'll send you one for free if you are willing to pay the postage. (Shouldn't be more than $2-3 if you are in the US.)

Just shoot me a pm.a

Let me know how it turns out!

I had to do a little fiddling with the dimensions/tolerances to get the lock to fit snuggly. I haven't calibrated my printer since I bought it, so I'm not sure how much the print will change from printer to printer. (Hopefully not much.)

I've been trying to get my hands on one of these or something I can put my everest kik in. I've looked at the Stanley 24/7. It's just too much to use to practice and not use to secure something.

I'll have to make one of these. My current KiK holder is an old deadbolt (escutcheon?) that I ground out to fit all of the KIKs. Slapped in some screws and a metal clip to hold the locks in place and done. Fairly comfortable but not as good as this.

Nice work
