Postby DonB » 13 Jul 2016 11:01

Hello friends, very new here but have been reading around for quiet some time ^^
I have been searching the internet quiet a bit to find out some more information about this lock i have found on a flea market here in Denmark. There is very little info around on the web, not even abloy got anything about it on there website -.-'
So after a few frustrating hours i got the idea to ask you all in here, maybe you got some roseurs that i dont or ideas that i not have thought of :D

Here is a pic from the net, but exact the same shiny little fellow i got :-P Hope someone out there can help me, otherwise thanks for giving my post a read :D

Is your lock actually gold plated, or is it brass? Your answer will affect ours.

I think that was the one that SecSnobs were trying to sell for 3-400 bucks or maybe that was just the gold plated one :/

I believe its an Abloy classic mech inside. Gordon will know!

Then it is an Abloy 3020 padlock. I love the design, and have one that was a gift from another member (Hi, Zeepia!) that goes on my Christmas tree each year as a decoration.

They are an older design from the 1920's according to the Abloy page linked. By no means as rare as the Abloy 100 year anniversary version, which has gold plating. It is still uncommon here in North America, but can be purchased overseas for a reasonable price.

You have found a nice lock! Hopefully you will post a picture of your actual lock in this thread. It should be a keeper for your collection.

Squelchtone: Well i guess the last two questions is how many was made and is it one of those locks that gain value over time? :-P

Gordon: Hmm it does not look like the 3020, or is it just a overall modelname? Haha yes it is a very pretty lock, fell for it at first sight! haha :-D

Here is a picture of mine and yes i have a key tho it is not on the picture, unfortunately not two keys as theres is originally ^^

That does look like it may be the anniversary model! You might have a rare, collectible lock. I'd recommend keeping it! :D

Congrats,

Gordon

It is an an Anniversary lock.
Locks like that are not available otherwize.
They are numbered, idk where the number is. It should have a box or atleast a pamphlet telling about it.
Really nice find.
There was one of those for sale on a Finnish net-auction. The guy asked 200euros for it, I offered a hundred, he was not interested.
How much did you pay for it?

Really bloody nice find. How much did you have to fork up for it at the flea market?. When I am at flea markets in Denmark I also look for interesting finds. I look for locks and my GF looks for Royal Copenhagen porcelain :P
