I see them every so often on ebay and all I know about them is that the ones I have seen sell for ALOT of money. I was under the impression that they were not as old as you make them sound, the one that I saw had a key that used side milling and required a ID card like those that come with Medecos to get copies made.

I have also seen them listed under "Ruko" if you decide to search for them.

The correct spelling is Zeiss Ikon.
The German company was founded 1846 by Carl Zeiss and the name Zeiss stands for high quality optical products. They also make respectable locks, but it seems that this part was taken over by the finnish Abloy in 1989.

P.S. Maybe they cost a lot of money and have ID cards with them because I've seen them mostly in master key systems.

I've got one on the underground parking where I live. I has side milling and five pins. Probably with security drive pins.
