Any idea which key section this padlock takes. I have a customer that needs a couple of duplicates.

That looks like a "L" keyway. Good luck finding a blank & please let me know if you do?

I could use a few...lol. As far as i know that keyway is restricted similar to the medeco keyways for the s&g locks. Ive looked for them all over & even contacted ingersoll directly but no dice. The only way i know of to get more keys is to switch the core to something like a "S" keyway but that is pricy. These are just things that i found out when i was looking for ingersoll "L" keys so i might be wrong. I bet squelchtone or some who knows for sure will chime in & tell you for certain.

This is probably what the other side looked like before someone took it to a belt sander.

Order duplicates here

https://www.ingersolllocks.co.uk/collec ... rsoll-lock

Or ask these guys:
http://www.morlands.demon.co.uk/ingKey.html

L is not shown but might be worth asking.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171011164166

Perhaps L was just for US Govt and simply will not be available...

I did ask both of them when i searched last year. Maybe it was just the people i talked to & i may have made a mistake by telling them that it was a U.S. military padlock. i only asked 1 person at each place too but, they told me that the L keyway was restricted to the American military only. i also asked ingersoll if they could cut me a S key if i gave them the code just to see if they were being short with me & they said sure but with shipping it was $43.00 for 1 key. so i had to pass. Of course all of this was done via email also.

The Ingersoll site you linked to is nothing to do with the manufacturer, just a Locksmith who capitalise on the name.

The L blanks haven't been made for years, and the market is so small that none of the aftermarket blank manufacturers are interested. A couple of years ago I came across an E keyway, no blanks available, despite having been used on a 20+ apartments in a purpose built residential block. IIRC I also encountered an R (or maybe it was L like yours?)keyway, long since discontinued and unsupported, I think it was originally a US military keyway, god only knows how it ended up on a private front door in the UK.

I have seen the R keyway on some U.S. railroad locks oddly enough those locks were stamped S&G also.
