Trailer lock.

Postby kayak1 » 14 Mar 2017 19:28

I have a Sur Trac dump trailer ( I purchased it in Feb ) https://www.sure-trac.com/products.php?trailerId=4 the vendor and manufacture can't tell me what blank it takes.

I have been to 4 hardware stores without luck

One of the stores made me key with a r013 key bank. It looks correct but it's a little too thick to fit into the lock.

Any idea as to what blank I should attempt to find.

Thanks in advance.

Pictures would really help us figure out what it is. And an RO13 key is for filing cabinets and desks.

I will work on getting pictures, the keys are in the truck and it's snowing out.

Great! If you could post a picture of the original key head, it will make the process even easier. This is because many brands have their own distinctive shape which helps tremendously in finding out what it is.

Sorry for the delay. I was thinking about the issue with posting the bitting of the key on the web. As I thought about it, this is very low quality wafer lock that should be pickable by anybody that is able to create a duplicate from a picture.

Closest blanks I have are CO12 and Y13. Neither one is an exact match.

Seeing how it looks to be a 4 pin and it has "CH" stamped on it, maybe it is a 4 pin Chicago blank like SC1041R or SC1041T?

http://mysecuritypro.com/keyblanks.aspx is site is good for typing in a blank number and seeing a picture and common applications, and has a link to the Ilco catalog pages.

Looking at the Ilco catalog maybe 1073 or 1069B. Maybe a stretch, but maybe an X1054GD?

How do you feel about Ilco BAU3 1676 or a Y14?

That should use a Y13 blank. Maybe the wardings of this key differ a little bit from your reference Y13 blank? I punched the CH501 code into my software and even the cuts look to be an exact match for the Yale code series that uses the Y13 keys.
