Hi,
I am currently disecting an Abloy DiscLock Pro Door Lock and I have come across a small obsticle.
Inside the back of the lock, holding in the cylinder is a small brass ring. Now I would try and remove this with a small screw driver, but something tells me that if it was that easy, you could just punch the front of the lock.
I am posting on here because A, i dont want to damage the ring, and B, im sure you guys know of an easy solution.
Here are some images of the lock.
Thanks,
Tony.

It is more than likely a retaining clip, and I don't see what your talking about in the picture. (I assume your not talking about part that is removed. which does hold the cylinder in.) They do have plug pullers that take advantage of small screws and literally rip the plug out of the casing, but considering you have about a seamless front (except for the 1/2 in hole) this method would be difficult. I say pop it out. Simply don't damage it in doing so.

I have revised the last picture to include a red ring which shows you where the brass ring is.
I don't believe that it is a retainer clip since it would have a small opening which would allow it to compress and expand.
The back part of the lock which has been taken off already does not hold the lock in. It simple turns themechanism inside the door and operates with the cylinder.
After thinking about it a bit more, i believe that once the brass ring is in there, it wasnt deigned to come out again in tact.
However, i am open to suggestions.

In mortice, rim, and any other type of cylinders I have seen, I can tell you the cam you have removed from the lock does indeed hold the cylinder in the casing. (mind you I am not speaking of the whole lock in the hardware, but rather just the plug in the casing.)It has held true to all the locks I have seen and rekeyed with this cam. as for the brass ring, if it is solid, I retract my statement, I was under the impression it was a semi-circle. Some locks and rotating parts on keymachines I have seen, do have a circular peice of metal that appears to aid in the rotation of the cutter, cam etc. Since you cant pull the plug out of the front like standard cylinders, I am assuming the only way TO remove the cylinder is out the back, so the ring has to come out. Sorry I couldn't provide more direct advise.

You were right.
After a bit more tinkering, I came across a small round retension clip located under a groove above the brass clip. After i poped that out with a small screw driver, the brass ring simple fell out, in turn releasing the cylinder.
Once apart, I have realised that I am going to have a lot of trouble putting it back together.
It would be great if someone, or maybe me once I have been successful, to post a guide on the assembly of Abloy DLP.
Thanks for your help
Regards,
Tony.
