Removing a Dorex Deadbolt

Can someone please help me in removing this from my door. There's no visible screws, the slot hole is behind the lock lever (arrow in picture), tried pushing it in with nails/pins etc. but it won't release the lever/handle. I tried prying off the case (where the x's are) and now it's loose. How do I a) remove the lock and b) fix the looseness of the casing... after trying to pry it off?

i would think that there has to be a set screw on that thumb turn. Probably a hex (allen) screw which would make it look like its just a hole.

Link to the installation book for the lock. It is a hex head set screw on the thumb turn.

For the base plate, if I manage to take it all off (as I should be able to do now) and tighten everything and it's still loose (remember I tried prying it off a bit..), any suggestions for making it tighter/less wobbly against the door?

Try to bend it back while is out of the door. Check it against a flat surface. Try to get it as flat as possible by bending it the other way around before reassembling it.

Do either of you or anyone else know where I can get a new/replacement piece for this lock? I'd need just the square casing/thumb-turn piece. Or one look it.. or can I literally replace it with anything that isnt hideous lol

Looked like yours was the satin chrome w/ the square rose, but you better double check


You might save a few $$ if Dorex makes a deadbolt with a thumbturn inside and no cylinder outside as you can still use your outside hardware

Is this the part where the 2 screws go through the thumb-turn case into the cylinder area (outside door?). Can I say get a back casing from another Lock and use it on this, if so do I need to look for certain dimensions.

Well I'm guessing that someday when you move you'll be wanting to get your deposit $$$ back,
so you can decide if you want to see that happen or not. As far as whether or not Dorex is compatible with Kwikset, Schlage or other, I cannot say as I have never seen a Dorex deadbolt before.

The adjustable backset refers to the deadbolt latch, which you actually already have. Perhaps someone on E-bay has a used Dorex you can get for less $$
