That's not how you spell MEDECO

Noticed this on the brick wall at a shopping center, next to one of the commercial doors that they use for loading and unloading for a small bakery. Never knew that Ademco alarms was big enough to get their name stamped on Medeco switch locks.

Does that look like stone around the cylinder to anyone else? I hope it isn't just felt. I'll have to touch it next time to see what it is.

I'm not happy with the dreamy looking focus, will have to take some more pics soon.

Way back in the day ... Ademco bought in to a Medeco keyway and got to have their name on their alarm switches. I had one customer that had this exact keyway on two giant houses, one in El Paso, TX and another in San Diego, CA. Several years ago Medeco refused to continue making this keyway and they are no longer available in deadbolts and KIK cylinders. We had to order all the plugs and keys through Ademco. The customer has since had to upgrade to M3 and Cliq cylinders. FYI
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

Looks like a corroded old galvanized washer to me.

Let us know what you find!

Does look like a galvanized washer, ADEMCO IS Big, Alarm Device Equipment Manufacturing Company, They sell through ADI, ADEMCO Distribution Incorporated or Industries, very old, used to use them years ago, switched to DSC, Digital Security Controls, can make them do about anything, Turn off water valve if wired or wireless water sensor detects water in 2 seconds. Turn off AC if Smoke or Heat is Detected, to stop the spread of smoke, or add air to the fire. Turn off AC if any Door is open more than 5 Minutes or whatever time you want, keeps from air-conditioning the outside, DSC was bought by TYCO(Take Your Company Over), that's what I thought it meant, as I saw companies Traded and sold like Cattle, now bought by Johnson Controls. ADI which was a Competitor, now distributes DSC. Some useless info.

Medeco/Ademco = Same number of letters... $100K and you too can have your name on the face of the cylinder.

Sounds cheap enough. :P Maybe we should start a gofundme and have some LP101 branded Medeco locks. :twisted:

Ademco = Alarm Device Manufacturing Co
bought by Pittway in 1960s
ADI = Ademco Distribution Inc.
Honeywell bought Pittway around 99-2000
Honeywell spun off the security to a new company, Resideo in 2019

Lori Lock/Ilco used to do that for people if you paid enough for the private branding.

"BLACO" was common on the face of cylinders in the middle Atlantic region for Blaydes Lock Company out of D.C.
