I dun have my medeco yet, but a question just came into my head about the way these pins rotate. And trust me, I am more than ready to be laughed at hysterically for my stupid question.
If a pin which is to engage the side-bar at +20 is manually rotated to a -20 position, will this interfere with the normal key operation, or will the pin merely fall into the key's groove of +20 due to the spring/gravity?
*braces for ensuing bashing*

If you think about it, the pins have to be able to rotate freely in the +/- 20 region, or the lock would not work as securely as intended.
The lock is however designed to constrain the rotation of the pins more or less within that +/- 20 angle, so the pins can't turn totally around for example. By keeping the pins within this normal angle, the lock ensures they will always settle correctly into the key by spring pressure. Due to the way the lock is designed, it shouldn't be possible to rotate a pin too far in either direction when using a pick.

That is the answer which I eventually arrived at, but I was under the impression that the pins could freely rotate (basically) all the way around, but could not spin a complete 360. I did not know that they're rotation was actually limited to the +/- 20 area.
Thank ya much

If you spent a lot of money on a medeco and the pins got worn out from the picks, (sand your picks) all you need to replace are the bottom pins, since you live in north dakota, you can just walk down the street and borrow a cup of medeco pins from mark tobias, he lives in downtown dakota.

Marc Tobias is the author of Locks, Safes, and Security, largely considered the authoritative text for lockpickers, and proprieter of http://security.org. Check out his site, there's some very cool stuff.

Eh, my google search already brought me to security.org, but with how popular that name is, I wasn't sure if I was in the right place.
