A different kind of padlock

Found this padlock on gate at some abandoned scrapyard:

I used SouthOrd picks beside it to you give you some idea of the scale.

Some raking took it off. It doesn't, so far as I can tell, have any security pins and its a bit dead (dull colour, lack of springiness, pins a bit stiff) because of being out in the weather.
Anyway it interesting how it opens, the hasp comes completely off. To put it back on you just stick it into the holes. Never heard of "Land" before either..
Anyone ever seen a similar type lock?

The shackle is not meant to come out, such shackles do exist but they don't have the flat base for the spring to act on. In this case either the shackle retaining pin is worn or the spring plate is.

As to the make it's a new one on me, the profile looks like Viro or Abus.

Probably a far east knock off.

i agree with oldlock, the shackle is definatly broken and it is more than likely some cheap import, which is why it is broken. a lot of "higher quality" locks seem to have a small hole in the bottom as well, although it has been discussed before what this may be for, i cant remember the outcome, anyway, this does not seem to have one, suggesting it is probably a cheap import.

just out of interest, didnt the scrap yard man mind you stealing the lock from his gate?

I'm sure he wouldn't mind about a rusty old lock that wasn't even connected to anything except a bar that didn't go anywhere.

Thats no problem, the mood of text can he hard to judge sometimes, especially where sarcasm is concerned.
Anyway I'm from near Newry. It's quite close to the border with the South.
