Squire 4 Wheel Combi Lock Help

Postby loopy66 » 13 Sep 2023 14:36

Hi. I have a Squire 4 wheel combination lock which I struggle to open... it's a little older and used, has oil and grime over it and inside it from outside use. I want to decode it like it is was in situ ie, no cleaning it.

I bought the same type from B&Q to practice on as the grimy one is, well, grimy.

According to online tutorials I should be able to find binding wheels (Bosnianbill video) but, when pressing the button every wheel binds!

Then on another it's about finding bouncy wheels. I find them and that helps. Another says pressing the button repeatedly moves unset wheels to the left... this also seems to work and so, using bouncy wheels and wheel movement I can decode my practice lock quite easy.

The previous in service one though, it doesn't give aheel bounce nor seem to nudge the wheels when unset, and all wheels bind when pressing the button.

Any help please?

Has anyone got any advice on this lock? Been nearly a year and I kinda gave up on it a while ago but picked it back up.

The wheels have no bounce and I now use the Bosnianbill method of pressing the plunger and feeling for a binding wheel and using this method I can open 4 different locks ofnthe exact same type within a few minutes.

This one, can't open at all. I use pliers on it to ensure I am really putting the pressure on it but still it won't open. Any advice how to crack this one?
