I would agree with Mikash. I think it's both. Congratulations on your first pick! Now see if you can doing going pin-by-pin instead of raking.
On the same note, I bought a padlock to practice on. The pins vary in length, but not substantially because the middle 3 pins are close to each other in length. I found a hairpin in the laundromat while doing my laundry and, without so much as bending the pin, I was able to easily pick the lock. Of course, I used a real tension wrench. Maybe it'd be fun to use a makeshift tension wrench, just to impress myself.
