Mul-T-Lock CLIQ

Postby bryan1656 » 29 Apr 2005 11:08

Greetings! I apologize in advance if I'm putting this in the wrong forum. I'm still new and getting used to things, here.

I tried the search function and other than some general info on Mul-T-Lock, I could find any specific info on thier CLIQ offerings.
http://www.mul-t-lockusa.com/newsdetails.asp?newsid=15

According to their add copy, they seem to have integrated an IC chip and reader into the lock thus providing some features usually only found in card readers. However, this supposedly doesn't require you to run any wires, etc.

So, I am looking at it as possibly being suitable for some high-end residential and small office applications - providing some benefits of a card reader/access control, but without some of the associated installation costs. It loos like something I might like to recomend to clients, and possibly look for a local locksmith to install as a sub. (I'm working on becoming a locksmith myself, but I've got quite a learning curve ahead of me!)

If anyone has some insight or feedback on the CLIQ system, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm learnign lots reading through all the posts. Ya'll have a very knowledgeable and helpful community here! I hope to be able to contribute when I can.

We've a local guy (ok, he's 300 miles away, but he's the only one in the state so far) who just picked up the CLIQ product.

He's pretty ecstatic with the whole Mu-T-Lock line thus far, but he also does a lot of high end electronic systems installation for large businesses with lots of money.

Check out the Mul-T-Lock website some more and contact your local rep. You can find out if anyone else in your area is distributing the product successfully - establish your market and competition in one fell swoop, maybe pick up a few references for testimonials, and get a real life look at what kind of price they are selling for.

The unfortunate thing is that with this system being so new in this country it's going to be hard to evaluate the viability right off. The most helpful information I can give you you is that reps work largely on comission and if you are someone who may have the capacity to buy or sell their product, they want to talk to you.

i think that the lock uses a RFID challenge respons, something like the WinkHaus Blue chip lock. But that lock can be easily opened with a large magnet. If i were you i would be carefull with new systems like this.

Thank you for the replies. I'll give my rep a call and see what they've got to say.

You pick the lock, then apply a BFM (Big freaking magnet).
