Newbie/Abus lock question:

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Newbie/Abus lock question:

Postby helix » 28 May 2005 22:59

Hi, this is my first post and I have been hanging around this
forum for a while now and I would like to say that you guys
have been really helpful and the information that yous share
is priceless.

ANYWAY: I am using a couple modified feeler guages for picking,
and my favourite is the half diamond.

I have picked the front and back door deadlocks of my house
(in use, ....I know, I know, but i did anyway),
three Abus padlocks and a
couple of medium sized Lockwood padlocks.

I have not yet been able to open a big Lockwood padlock because I
feel that it is too stiff, although the pins inside it feel ok, but I am working on it, haha.

With the Abus locks, I have noticed that all three of them need only
slight, slight tension and then i put in my pick to the back, rake the last two pins and they open in five seconds.

Is this a common trait with Abus padlocks? Should it be that easy?
My deadlocks are sort of the same as well.

MY QUESTION:

Is it the locks, my technique, or have I fluked making an awesome pick?

sorry about the long post.

Yeah I guess, thanks.
By the way, I have just looked again at my locks and
what i have been calling Abus, are actually Ilco...

But I guess the answer to that is the same?
haha, thanks. :)
