surprising cheap padlock...

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

surprising cheap padlock...

I pulled apart an Ace Hardware padlock and to my surprise I find not one, but four spool pins in the thing.

Explains why it was difficult to pick...here I was expecting it to have one, or none altogether.

Thought y'all would find it interesting. Good intermediate practice lock. :)

Yeah, forgot about that thread.

Re-read it just now. :)

Now to figure out how to get this infernal lock put back together with more than one pin, and I'll be set.

What I did was put the core back in, drop the top pins into the keyway and spin it around so it locked up, and pushed them into their holes with a paperclip, repeated with the next pin set.

These serrated spool pins are evil.
