harbor freight padlock

Postby sucker » 29 Aug 2005 10:35

I recently purchased a cheap padlock from Harbor freight. It resembles a Master 220. I took the cylinder out to remove the pins to practice but I can't remove the core from the cylinder. It doesn't have a clip or any other retaining device on the back. I am stumped. How do I get it apart without destroying it. I will try to post a pic later.

btw, I have an american lock that I have done this to so I know what I "should" be doing.

are there access holes in the bottom? if so,you need to input the key, rotate the cylinder 180 degrees, and push out the pins through the holes in the bottom. Rotate back to the locked position, then let the top pins fall into the keyway, and rotate the lock again, taking out the needed pins. I'm not positive about springs, but I'm pretty sure that when the pin stack is removed, the spring pretty much falls out (you may need to push it out with a hook pick or the like)
