'88 Ford F-150

Hey All,
I know this should probably be in the automotive section, but it isn't a question that could pose hazard being in the open fourm, IMO.

I am suppose to be rekeying a 88 Ford Truck in the near future, but I am unsure as to the correct procedure. I have many locksmith books that I have read and understood but my primary question lies within the pins. I know that pre-1984 it was mostly 5 pin locks. Post-1984, locks were still 5 pin for a short time, but they changed over to the ten pin rather quickly. I was wondering if any automotive savvy locksmith out there could tell me if a 10-pin Ford service kit would do the trick. Also, any tips or procedures that could be helpful would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to get out there and have the wrong kit. Also, 8-pin is Ford's newest and present system correct? Thanks for your assistance. -Pickermeapie
