If a group of ASSA 6000 locks open with the same master key, does that necessarily mean that they will all have the same sidebar bitting? I think that is so, but wanted to check with an expert.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
The side bar will be consistent with the suite. An ASSA stockist will hold keys with differing side bar cuts
There are six different side bar pin lengths (well depths).
If you get one of these cylinders to play with when you take it apart keep the key in until the whole plug is out, remove the sidebar and 2 small springs then gently withdraw the key (thumb over the sidebar pins!) or you will have some very small irriplaceable springs on the loose!!!
