It's a nice lock. I got one, early on in my picking experience, thinking it had an IC core.

I'll pull it out of the 'pending' bucket tomorrow.

Are you sure about the IC core?

It seems that it can come out, or else they wouldn't have made it that way.

I have a 576 which seems to be the same except for an extended shackle and brass on the outside. It was a nuisance at first because of the counter-tension. I was wondering if it were IC too...

How could I be sure it's a IC core ? By picking it I guess..I don't have the keys for these, so I can't do it, I got them from a friend.

I have the keys for mine, and so far as I can tell I can't find a way to pop the core out.

Can enyone tell me how this lock is different from the No 530? I have one that looks exactly like that.

From what I can gather, the cylinder is probably the same, but the actual lock & shackle dimensions differ...

Well, if it's the same cylinder, then I guess I do have some experience with this lock. I bought one early on as well. I bought it because it was a "Contractor's Grade" and claimed pick resistance. I was a little put off when I took it out of the package and popped it open in under 3 minutes. I would say, not a very tough lock at all.

ThE_MasteR's pics...:

...both show the actual cylinder in the lock body. The shape is similar to an IC core, but I'm sure it is a lot smaller in this case. Having not actually dealt with a true IC, I can't give any reliable info. I didn't get around to pulling this lock out of the pending bin & playing with it today, due to my 'other' favourite past-time...reading.

Anyone actually been successful in removing the 'core' from this lock?

Not likely an IC, but more likely has a removable core. Try opening the padlock and looking in the hole where the toe of the shackle was. You'll likely see the head of a hex screw. Remove that and the cylinder should pretty much fall out. 8)
