Today I dissmantled my Masterlock No.3 because it didn't work anymore, due to all the bumping I did on it, and I don't know if I am the only one to have these but, all the pins ( bottom and drivers ) were all serrated pins !
This is the Masterlock No.3 in my video section, and it says on the lock "Masterlock No.3 1UP" on it, so that may mean something.

The UP locks are keyed by shearing a set of serated pins, so of course, you will find that all pins are serated.

FYI Master, the lock is initially built with the plug sticking out of the lock by one pinstack. The serrated pins are in one piece. A bitted key is inserted into the plug, then the plug is hammered into the lock body, shearing the pins at the correct height.
HTH.
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

The UP locks are a special beast. Master sells them "unpinned" but assembled. You go to a hardware store, with a key to a lock you already have. The clerk inserts the key into the plug, then slams the plug foward one pin stack with a special rod, shearing the pins at....the shearline... thus allowing the local hardware store to key all your master locks the same or at least add to your system.

Never heard of that method, pretty interesting. Although, this lock was extremly easy to pick, any beginner should start with this.

I disagree. Some of the UP locks can be hard to pick, as the shearing process sometimes leaves rather rough edges. I have a 3UP lock thats harder to pick than a vanilla master 3. I would try the UPs as my 3 or 4th lock if i was starting all again.
