In all honesty I was expecting this question from someone as soon as I posted, and it just happened to be the moderator that I pissed off. Sorry about that I am just in a hurry to figure out how they work for a Mechanical Engineering class. We have to pick out something that can be dissected in Autocad and bring in an example to class. I picked the tubular lock instead of the padlock or homelock because other students said they looked much harder to pick. I took the challenge. I was posting that much because I can't afford an $80 pick brand new. I was hoping that I could find one used by someone on this site. I may be able to but I posted outside of the rules and for that I am sorry. In any case the project will be due Nov. 16 and I certainly have time to Autocad certain parts of the tubular lock, and pick up a tubular lock at Home Depot that I can show off and possibly pick if I get the required tools and skills. But I understand the questions and expect them.

Alrighty then. :)

The problem with your selection of a tubular lock is that they do require special - and expensive - tools to pick (well don't actually require, but for all practical purposes, we'll say they do). If you were to change gears a bit (assuming it's not too late for that) you could pick a standard house deadbolt with only some easily made homemade tools and a bit of practice.

That's just my suggestion.
