how to pick a ABUS lock

i bought a ABUS lock the day before yesterday and i tried to pick it yesterday but no dice i allmost had it when i set the first and third pin the plug turns a little bit. Also underneath the brand name it has 60/40 what does that mean?

If anyone can help i would be very thankfull p.s i think iy has a mind of its own.

The 60/40 is the model number. It's a 5 pin padlock. I don't know if that particular model has any security pins in it, but I know that I have a ABUS 85/40 brass padlock, it has 5 spool driver pins and it takes me under 20 seconds to pick it. Also, search a bit on google and you will find some info on that lock. You ask me why don't I do it for you ? Because no one ever did it for me and I learnt that way so good luck friend.

Abus Padlocks (based on my collection)

65/50 has 5 pins (plain front pin and spools for the others)
65/40 has 5 pins (plain front pin and spools for the others)
65/35 has 4 pins (plain front pin and spools for the others)
65/30 has 4 pins (plain front pin and spools for the others)
65/20 has 3 pins (no security pins)

I posted this recently in another topic but it is probably is appropriate to just repeat int here. The 65 is just a series number I think. The second number is the width of the padlock in mm but if it ends in 5 it means a longer shackle than usual (the 35 is 39 mm wide).

Ok..Ok..I feel bad now, i'll tell you a trick on how to pick it. If it has spools, you absolutly need to use light tension on the cylinder or else the driver pins will not lift. There's a topic JUST for spool pins if you search, but I bet you are lazy like all of us here (no offense everyone) so i'll link you to the .gif on a very well made site, you should check out everything on that site. So like I said, the trick is, you need to apply some tension so that the pins will bind, and if you know where the spools are, lift the spool pin, but it shouldn't set right away, you need to release a bit of tension and THEN set it. I hope this helps.

I used my mate's program, 3D Studio Max. Kinda pricey though.

I have a ABUS 65/50 and on the back of the package it says Has anti-pick mushrooms pins. And still cant pick it!!!! :evil:

Any1 got any suggestions why. I apply light tension pin pick the pins for about 2 mins and release tension and i can set about 2-3 pins but the plug never turns.

There are guides posted on the forums for picking security pins. There are also videos out there the describe the process very well. Try doing a search :roll:
