I wonder what makes one electropick better than another. What would the parameters be? Frequency, waveform, force, amplitude, probe shape? Can't be many others.

Well, there'd be ease of adjustment of anything you can adjust. And there'd be frequency variation. (This seems like an obvious advantage if it automatically varies at a fairly slow rate.) This last appears not to be an option on the Wendt. It is on the Multi-pick, but, oh dear, we just moved up market again!

I would really like to see/hear about some head to head testing. I wonder how many people actually get a chance to try more than one, considering the price. So unfortunately we get strong support for the one someone has bought but no real comparison info. (Not getting at anyone, by the way.)

I've seen all the commonly available types supported as working well, and there is a price difference of more than 14:1.

So if anyone has compared these things in the field, I'd like to hear from them!

I'd be fascinated to see some serious, extensive comparisons between the HPC and the Wendt. Something along those lines has been done with the Multipick (not very glowingly), and it'd be nice to bring the new guy into the comparison consciousness as well.

Ive seen the wendt in action and it beats the hpc hands down so ive bought one :D . Also the various needles do increase the success rate and they do hel pon the hpc but not as effectivly as the wendt. This topic has been discussed on another forum i belong to and this opinion seems to be the overall consensus.

Thinking there was no difference I originally bought the Southord gun
and struggled to open anything even with using the thin blades .
I then bought the Wendt gun and was imediately and easily opening
cylinders I couldn't before. Whatever the difference is (if there is one)
it was worth buying.

If you still have both try the southord blades in the wendt gun and the wendt blades in the southord gun, i would like to know what reasults you get with them then

When I wrote 'thin blades' I meant the type of blades that come with
the Wendt. I bought some separately for the Southord and it didn't
make a positive difference for me, in fact cylinders that I could open
with the Southord blades I couldn't with the thin blades  .The thicker
blades in the Wendt worked well in cylinders that would take them.

I received my package from Multipick today. That's crazy to me because I ordered Monday morning which means it was afternoon in Germany when they got my order, and I even went with the cheaper shipping as well.

A couple things to note about buying the Wendt for people over here is that the directions are in German and the plug doesn't fit in our outlets. Two things that should have hit me beforehand, but somehow managed to surprise when I opened the case.
