Multipick Electric Pick Vs Wendt Electric Pick

Postby panalman » 2 Oct 2005 14:32

On the Multipick website they state there electric pick is the most powerful and they say they are prepared to back this up.... :o But they also sell the Wendt which has had good reveiws on this forum. My question is which one is the better as they are quite close in the price range. Can one open more than the other or do they reflect on performance as they do in the price.

I have done a search but not much came up. :?

Powerfull is not always best! Ive used both, that said not used Multipick much,id go for Wendt all day long, still pretty powerfull but the multi batters those pins something rotten.I think a huge part of the success ive had with the wendt is the range of blades you can use.Im not sure wether you can get different picks with the multi? I used it on an Assa at home and had to change the bloody cylinder!
Wendt everytime.and i cant see many disagreeing with me on this

The biggest problem with the multipick is the fact its not as mobile as the wendt gun, the multipick gun has this big battery pack that you must carry to the door to plug the gun into, awkward for some types of work, where as wendt has its own built in rechargable battery like the HPC gun.

ive used the 2 picks and also prefer the wendt, 1 ) because of the bulky battery pack that must be carried to the door with the multipick, and 2) the multipick gun is just far too powerfull and as andy has said will often result in the opening being destructive.

Ive enjoyed success on many high security cylinders with the wendt gun, and the blade variations are an asset, their is many a post on the multipick gun on 101 and the cylinders it has destroyed due to its power, it will open them but at some cost.

with the price difference being alot between the 2 guns , and the fact that you will notice no real difference in the range of locks they both open, so what if 1 is 30 seconds longer to open, i think wendt is spot on and multipick is too powerfull, but both open the same lock types and ranges.

Multipick Vs Wendt

Postby panalman » 3 Oct 2005 5:16

Thanks Andy & Martin.
For your input on this one you both have experince on the tools in question and you have both made some interesting comments on each of them.

I was led to belive from what I had read on there website that the Mutipick had a different way of doing the job as they also claim that there tool will not damage the lock. The use of ultrasonic's was my first thoughts.

The wendt wins on 4 counts being less bulky, can use a much wider range of picks, the price, and is also able to open some of the more secure locks. I think I will keep the HPC for now until my bank balance tells me different.
Many Thanks Guy's :)

I honestly have yet to hear anything good about the Multipick, except maybe in an intellectual "interesting idea" way.

According to the Wendt Site the blades are called 'Novum' and don't look at all like the one's on the Multipick site. This suggests that you may not be able to get genuine replacement blades, unless Wendt will sell them to you. It's interesting that people are finding them so superior.

If the blades make that much difference, I'm not sure I'd want to spend so much on the pick if the blades are hard to get!

You can get the Wendt needles here - http://www.zieh-fix.com/Shop/index.html?lang=en-us - you may need to click on 'manipulation' and they are about a third of the way down. You can also order them from http://www.keyprint.co.uk/

The Wendt needles will fit straight into the HPC gun and will improve your success rate over the standard HPC needles. The Wendt gun will improve your success rate again. It depends how far you want to go and how much you're willing to spend...

Yes that is the Wendt site. I was just pointing out the statement on that site:
Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie bei einer Erstbestellung einen Gewerbenachweis in Form einer Kopie des Gewerbescheins, der Handwerkskarte oder des Handelsregisterauszuges beifügen.

Evored: you wouldn't have a problem with that, but I probably would at the moment!

Sorry - didn't think! :)

Well we know where your interests lie, though you should at least know 'noch ein bier'!

Basically they say that they require documentary proof that you're a registered locksmith (whatever that is) with your first order.
