Hi again!!
I have an old cylinder lock I managed to open several times with my homebrew picks. Now it's been a week and i-just-can't-get-it-open
I took the key and tried following the approximate height of the pins, but nothing. When i got fed up enough i said ok; i'll remove a pin. No way. OK, let's make it progressive again and i'll remove another pin. Lock says: HA-HA...
I have focused absolutely all the swearing I am capable of into this lock, apart from all the techniques i know: racking, pin to pin... The is no way to open it. I'm just not removing a 3rd pin -it has 5-. I think this lock has developed some kind of resistance to picking!!! I just can't believe I can't pick 3 pins of a cheap and simple pin tumbler lock, furthermore when i've picked the whole 5 pins many times before!!! Aaaaaaaaggghh!!
Any suggestions/ideas/mocking? Thanks!

Mellow out. Try taking a shot of whiskey, seriously - or just focus on calming down. You're getting too frustrated. At the ultra fine motor skills level, the psychocomatic effect is very pronounced.

Yeah, perfectly. It's not the lock, it's my useless body's fault!!

Yes, i guess it has to do with it. It's like playing go, sometimes you can't win, whatever you do. It happens

If you have another, easier lock, pick it a couple of times to let yourself know that you still have the touch. If you don't have another lock, then take the 3rd pin out and work you way back up.
I have had to do this a few times.

Some thing's happened because.. now it doesn't work!!! The key won't turn anymore. I tell you, there's some black magic thing going on around the lock... Anyway, maybe it wasn't me
I'm off to the store to get a new one!

It is always reassuring to know you couldn't pick it, because it was cursed.

New tip for beginners:
1.- Make sure the lock isn't cursed
2.- Hold the tension wrench....
They should include that in the MIT guide

Since we have an anti-curse feature on this forum, I think Varj & the mods should look into supplying a picking anti-curse tool in the buy/sell section.
All designs welcome. I'll start the ball rolling:
Take a handkerchief, and wrap it around a golf ball. Bite down hard and tie the loose ends behind head.

I recently had people take delivery of a vehicle and their anti-curse ritual or blessing was;
1) Break a coconut under the front right wheel and drive over the coconut milk.
2) Then proceed down the road approx. 20 metres, stop, put a lemon under each tyre then drive forward again squashing the lemons.
3) Stop approx. 5 metres past the lemons and do three circles on hard right lock... and then the car was blessed.
Not too sure how you could apply this to a lock, wouldn't recommend it anyway - the car was back under warranty in two days.....

Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....
