"Peterson steel"

I was wondering If JP-A "just picks-assorted" were made of "Peterson Steel" or just spring steel. I ask this because on Peterson-International.com when you look at Individual picks It says they are made of this "Peterson steel" but when you look at JP-A It does not say the picks are made of "Peterson Steel." If you were to make the JP-A by buying the picks Individualy from Peterson International.com It would be $45.00
If you were to buy the set JP-A off of Peterson-International.com It would be $41.00 and $22.00 on lockpicks.com. I can understand the picks being cheaper If you buy a set because your buying more than just the amount you may actually want which makes It a better deal which equals more sales. I don't have a clue which It is which Is why I am asking. Most any reply would be appreciated.

You think way too much. Their standard picks are made from "Peterson steel", as are the U-bend-it blanks. "Peterson steel" seems to just be spring steel covered in grease. Their stainless set is stainless steel, obviously.

The Peterson spring steel is unlike regular spring steel stock. You can bend their steel at sharp angles and not break it.

The material is very good for picks and bypass tools.

Yes, Peterson steel is more than steel with some grease on it, as stick stated.
I believe it is some type of alloy.

Well, for most practical purposes, as a hobbyist, whether or not it's actually steel or some alloy doesn't matter. Also note that, although I haven't had this happen to me yet, people have mentioned having their Peterson picks rust a bit at the tip.

I highly doubt that Peterson is manufacturing their own steel, so "Peterson Steel" is just a marketing term. Also they are not claiming that they are using some special alloy other than spring steel, just that they use quality spring steel instead of crappy spring steel.
