Welcome new members. Enjoy the site.

Somewhere in the FAQ's here is the link to a map to Al Capone's fortune. Honest! Go look for it. :D

Hello all!

Postby Wolf » 24 Nov 2005 10:46

I am new to the forum so I would like to say hello.

When I was much younger 14 or 15 I was able to open those bicycle locks that need a combination of three ciphers to open. They were poorly made but it was a lot of fun (never took any bicycle that didn't belong to me just so you know. I hate people who steal!! If it's not yours keep your hands of!).
You just pulled on the side of the lock and started moving the ciphers. When they got stuck you knew it was the correct number:-)

I now came across this site and had a look around here and the internet and saw the option to open the more 'normal' locks without a key. It peaked my interest especially seeing as I still have a lock somewhere that I lost the key for a long time ago.

So I am planning to make some picks and take it form there:-)

Greatings and thanks for having me here.

W~

Hey everyone, my name is Zack and I'm new to both the site and picking. I started within the last few weeks when two of my friends locked themselves out and I managed to get the door open with a flathead and another screwdriver that I kinda made into a pick thanks to a bench grinder and a hammer. It was an amazing sense of accomplishment and now I'm hoping it will prove to be an amazing hobby.

Hi all! I guess I should post here now that I'm going to be fairly active on the forum. So, let me introduce myself.

My name is Eric, 27, Scorpio, Single, Looking. I'm from Chicago but currently reside in the desert town of Socorro, NM where I'm attending the college of New Mexico Tech. This is a DOE/DOD funded institute which focuses much of its attention on explosives and anti-terrorism sciences.

I've always enjoyed picking locks with paperclips since my dad taught me when I was 8, and so I've come here to expand on this skill with real pin and tumbler locks.

I hope to make lock-out calls a side job while I'm going through college, and am even considering teaching an elective class at NMT on Locksmithing. Most of my posts in the comming months will be requests for reference materials such as books and instructional videos with wholly rounded information going beyond basic picking techniques. Some of the information I'm interested in are lock specifications and keying standards, including measurements of pin depths and how these differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. While I'm learning the art of lockpicking, I will be writing notes for my own course guide to teaching it. It's my goal to see Locksmithing taught in accredited institutions rather than "As Seen On TV" colleges.

Anyway, thanks for having me. I'll see you on the forums.
