tshock: First let me say that you know what a fan I am of your idea. It does work fantastic.
However, I think if you are to actually look at selling the idea or having the product manufactured, you'll need to have a complete tool that is very "non DYI" in appearance. I don't think that pitching a mouse trap and a tension wrench will get you very far.
Having said that, if you put some work into pulling a solid design together you may have a chance at making something of it. However, it'll cost money to make money. If you're to have it manufactured, you'll need patents, prototypes, etc. If you're just looking to sell the idea you'll still need something more concrete. Not saying it can't be done, but just suggesting the things you'll need to think about.
