PICS strange cam lock not abloy (I think?) PICS

Cleaning out an old garage for a friend of the family and I find a box of random screws, bolts and misc. hardware and I see what looks like a lock I was told whatever interests me I can save fromthe trash so when I look into the keyway and see some weird pins I know I found somthing interesting. It has no springs and looks like its 20 years old, it still spins and when the pins are moved out of line they still lock the plug up.

This is the lock from face unopened it has a stainless plate about 1/8" thick that looks like it was "taped" as in clear plastic tape to the plug

This is the "face plate" removed from the plug itself next to a sideveiw of the lock.

heres the actual plug removed from the lock

a closeup of the plug itself the beauty of the thing is there are NO SPRINGS to hit me in the eye as usual, the 8 pins go all the way through to the other side of the plug and either stick out or recess form those points aswell. The white thing is a peice of plastic probably old nylon from what I know as a machinist.

If you can't make it work try yelling "aww d*****t!" and throwing your tools it never worked for my pops but it entertained me :)

Looks like some kind of sidebar wafer lock.

Most likely to be a wafer lock, any picture of the key?

It looks like an old car lock, pull one of the wafers out and you may find a spring underneath it somwhere.

It could be a simple pick or if it relies on the sprung sidebar and nothing else with tension then it could be a verey hard pick.

the plug looks like a greenleaf type lock, I forgot the name of it, but the key is laser track type, in fact one the earliest of the type. look in the keyway for little fingers sticking out of the sides of the keyway, some of these types are actually easy to pick with a light touch, the hardest to pick are the varient made in switzerland that have no springs driveing the tumblers.

I think thats the one, it has a side bar with a spring behind it JUST for the purpose of tension, there are "fingers" and I'm dead sure there are no springs for the pins themselves.

Does no-one know that cameras need light? And that the "macro" button is there for a reason?
