The first lock I picked was a master padlock and I picked it in about a minute or less by raking. I will never forget how good it felt to pick a lock, it was better than sex.

First lock took me at least 3 hours but then i was using picks made from coat hanger wire, and I believe this lock has security pins. For some reason after making proper tools i havent been able to repick the darn thing lol. I had been getting fairly quick at it, and something in my technique has changed and I am now unable.
Second lock was in about 3 minutes. With proper tools. Of course I havent even attempted raking yet, I really enjoy the pin by pin picking atm. Ill work on other techniques after I get fairly decent at the pin by pin.

Took about 1 minute but was a very loose desk lock with a paper clip. Have played with own Master padlocks with varied reponses, some are very easy other much tougher. I think they have major variations in their manufacturing tolerances (or I've gotton worse)

I started with a kit set that I bought from self defense.com but the first lock that I opened was a padlock and I took about 1-10 minutes. I got very happy with that and I have been adicted since then.

My first lock was some no name 5 pin house lock took me about a few minutes. My mom gave me some lock that she bought in a set and didn't use. I thought it was a Kwikset because thats what our deadbolt said but after a long time of not being able to pick it I opened it up and discovered the first four pins were spool pins! So I used the great method of working my way up one pin at a time . . . this was before I learned there was a non-destructive way to taking pins out. I ripped off the top with pliers and removed pins and tied the top back on with the only material I had . . . pink ribbon

My very first lock... about one minute. I lit a cigarette and it wasn't 1/4 of the way burned when I popped a five pin First Watch. Maybe not the best lock, but she was my first.... Been hooked ever since. Since then, been playing with getting better sensitivity in my fingers, take it slow and easy, study it. First time I raked a lock, I was surprised that it only took 3 strokes and it popped. I focus on pin-at-a-time just for the sensitivity though.

My first lock took me about 1.5min then someone told me I needed to be faster so I practiced until I could get it in about 15sec. That's from pulling my pick set out of my pocket until the lock is open. It is still kinda cheating because I know exactly what pick will open the lock the fastest.

My first lock was a 5 pin lock on my parents alcohol cabinet. (Hey, I was young and couldnt get my own)I used a dental pick for picking and an eyeglasses screwdriver for a tension wrench. I was interested in lockpicking for a while so I knew how to pick properly........actually I'm still 13 and thats the only lock I've picked because of my lack of proper tools. My real picks are on the way.......I picked that lock in about 36 seconds by the way.

No, I'm not an alcoholic nor do I drink a lot. To tell the truth I first just tried it to see if I could pick it.

the first lock i picked was the kwikset on the back door of the house i lived in when i was 11, my dad who had been a semi pro locksmith for a bout 20 years decided he would finaly teach me this skill and handed me a rake and tension wrench. He demonstrated the rake technique a couple times and then i was opening the lock myself within a few minutes. sadly my dad was removed from my life for 9 years shortly after that but ive used the skill intermitantly since then. when i was 14 or so i was at my grandmothers house and she accidentaly locked us out of her house . and i was able to quickly fashion a rake pick (that being the only pick i was familiar with at the time) and tension wrench from a set of walkman headphones that was found in a drawer in the gerage
. and i went from locked out . to fashioning pick tools to chilling in the A/C on a hot summer day in about an hour lol
