Hello I'm fr0st I've been into lockpicking as a hobby since I was 12.
I've made my first pickset when I was 12 and I've been loving it ever since.
Still using my homemade picks.

I've seen many of members of this site's homemade picks and I am impressed by some collections a few have.

Just thought I'd finally introduce myself after lurking for a little while reading the posts on the forum.

found this site a few months ago and it is exellent ! only just got round to registering after our baby daughter arrived four weeks early.I have recently been employed as a trainee locksmith in Winchester and im loving it having spent alot of time trying to get a foot in the door.Looking forward to attending my first south east picking meeting and putting some names to faces.All the best.SPANNER.

hey everybody, found this site looking for some tips on defeating my brinks padlock, just do picking as a hobby. I guess you could say it goes along with my dorky personality. I hope to significantly build my skills and use my education (currently acquiring Mech. Eng. degree) to be an engineer for a safe company or something along those lines. Pleased to be here.

.. I guess there is no "Video" thread, it must have been a figment of my imagination. I went through all 17 some a pages looking it after a search of "Video" to no avail.

I think I must have gotten confused with zeke's http://www.locksportarchives.com/archives/ site. Although I have not applied there yet, if you stick around here and make enough quality posts, you will be certain to get in. There are pick templetes, videos, and many other informative pieces located on that site so I hear.

treeson thank god for that, i thought i was going crazy. scrolled through page after page trying to convince myself that i hadnt missed the thread, and then going back over it again just to double check. i guess ive just learned my first lesson in the art of lock picking PATIENCE. but thanks for replying so soon, i would have spent all weekend looking for something that wasnt there bc

Hi! I just recently joined. I'd like to learn how to pick locks. I am a complete beginner. I could really use any beginner tips or any beneficial tips. My husband is starting his own locksmith business. He has tools & books but he does'nt have much time to train me or keeps procratinating.
So I could use much beginners help. Thank you.

Welcome to the site Laurie

You are fortunate that you already have access to tools, since you will be able to try several different ways a lock can be opened.

If you click my signature image it will link you to a page that has more links to some good articles about picking.

There is a site which was created by a guy called Deviant Ollam, and it will run you though the workings of a lock, and also the picking with some clear animations. http://deviating.net/lockpicking/

You will need the 'MIT lockpicking guide' which can be found by clicking my signature link. This is a short paper about how picking is possible, and also some tricks which can be used to open them. When used with Deviant Ollam's animations it should clear up anything you weren't sure of.

If you are still fuzzy about some stuff when you've seen the MIT guide, and need a different perspective or the like, feel free to ask.
