Brinks R70

Ok i have to be fast about this cause im on $1

I got the brinks Circle padlock and i think its a 4 pin but it has R70 on it under keyhole and i got a combo lock but also im going to pick up som masters so cya all and im having a good time.

Still cant pick R70

I'm betting you're probably applying too much tension. You actually need to vary your tension depending on the situation of the pins. Start out with pretty heavy tension, but still only enough to bind the pins good. Keep this tension steady until you reach a false set. When all spools are false set you'll get a good amount of rotation of the plug. Now, here's the tricky part:
Back off of the tension very slowly until you hear 1 pin in the lock reset, and as soon as you hear that little click apply just a little more tension and hold it steady. Now, start picking all the pins again. You'll be able to squeeze the spool pins through at this point. They'll give your pick a good bit of feedback when they pass through the lip of the cylinder and that'll be followed by a real set very quickly. If you're still using too much tension the spool pin will "snap" into the cylinder and you'll cram everything up into the cylinder pretty hard and will have to let it back down.

After reading all the recent chatter about the R70, I walked into Walmart and purchased one this afternoon. No luck picking it yet, but I have false set the lock and the plug moves over a bit as everyone else has reported.
The shackle is also very loose at that point, as described by other posters.

At that point I try to back off and I hear one click, then I put a little more tension on, but no amount of single pin picking, varying tension or raking does any good. When I back off all the way and release tension I hear: click, click.

I give up for tonight, my fingers hurt. here's some eye candy of my new challange and it's key, which happens to be an M1 type.

I have the Abus Discus, yours is the knock-off (4 pins instead of 6) and your keyway is much bigger, should be a snap....I'm not at all surprised it isn't though Brinks is a real pain, I'm not sure where to classify them. If this is anything like their shrouded padlocks you are looking at some very oddly acting spools. Pinsetter seems to have a good handle on them. If you want to be scientific you could map how the pins set and false set by marking them on paper as you work, with 4 pins you should crack it pretty quick. Tension and sequence seem to be key to brinks, it is a great way to learn spools though

need to get a Hook pick made outta wiper blade and my grandas cool copper handles.

At moment i only have a southord diamond and that hook with the bend before hook which is flimsy.

making a hook pick outta wiper blade without a bend is good for this R70.

Also its a bit stronger.
