Help with Sentry s3470

I am not looking to make this a hobby nor am I looking to hurt anyone.


I was given a safe from someone who found it in the house they moved into. She was an older woman and didn't "have any use for it". So I picked the heavy thing up and brought it home. It sounds like there's something in it from the way it feel when I rolled it over to move it. The key hole is either a special key or its just an empty hole. It does have a combo lock also. I read online that there is a code i can get to open it but I'm a single mom and out on disability. Although it may sound stupid to some I can not afford sentrys 12 dollar fee nor do I have the money to pay for a lock smith. They all want paperwork which I dont have either.

I just want to open it to see if I was able to turn someones trash into something useable. I'm sure theres ways to destroy the thing but I'd like to keep it intact so I can use it for my sons paperwork and pictures and such.

So what do I do????

I saw that my answer mayh lay in the advnced forums but this isn't something I want to turn into a hobby or proffesion. help?!

Now THAT is analytical reading! I thought the post was sincere, and still am unsure as people on disability are often seen doing things they shouldn't be doing. For someone that is on disability the possibility offered by a free safe that may contain money would be hard to pass up.

STILL, the topic of safes is advanced forum material and there's a good reason for that. I came here for access to the advanced forums because I eventually want to be a full fledged locksmith and safe man, and I'm waiting patiently till I get invited in or can apply.

To get to the point: Even though you may have good intentions, the possibility of getting someone to advise you on opening that safe in the public forums is not going to happen. That is not to be mean or cruel in any way, but it is done with the best interest of the public in mind.

I'm not on a physical disability but somehow I can't figure out how that should be any of your business.

On a site that attempts to promote lockpicking as being ethical, constant scrutiny is required. Peopel have in the past come onto the forums, and created a false personality to gain sympathy, you would not be the first.

I think he was wary that you might be lying, in an attempt to gain info that is forbidden within the public forums of this site.

Regardless of whether any of this is true, discussion of such things is not allowed in the public forums I'm afraid.

Oh I understand completly. But My thought is it never hurts to try. I figured the worst that could happen is that I get told no. We're going to try and cut it open I have a friend with some kind of saw but to be honest I have no idea what its called. I was hoping to spare the safe itself and he said the heat from it might ruin whats inside also. More than what can be in it money wise is a curiosity of an intersting find. old pictures ect......

Safe openings of any kind are for the Advanced forums. You will need to call a locksmith or risk ruining the contents opening in other manners. This topic is locked.
