Well, I got home tonight to find my pick set waiting for me by the front door.
So far I've managed to pick my 4 pin Yale padlock, a 5 pin Securit door lock (only one side though?!) and it just took me about 3 minutes to pick my 4 pin Magnum "TOP SECURITY" bike lock!
Woot!
Suddenly the worlds fells a lot less secure!

After a half hour break I finally managed the other side of that lock!
Woot!

drag your thumbnail down the shaft of your new picks, if you feel it drag, you may wish to sand this area, with fine sand paper, and perhaps round off any sharp edges on the shafts as well, this will improve the way they work. use sand paper rubber banded to a small wooden stick, not a power tool, power tools are agressive and can cause damage. Use the type of black sand paper that is for metal.

Lever picks are for lever locks, depending where you are from they may not be very common in your area so dont worry about them

A lever lock is a lock that uses a key such as this...
There is a how to pick thread somewhere on here...[urlhttp://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=10743]CLICK HERE![/url]

Hmm... the pics are shown with the squared background for scale. The length of each square is 5mm.
Starting from top:
Lever lifter,
'J' wire/button hook/overlifter
Another tension wire,
Lever lifter.
The thing on the right is an overlifter, but it's a commercial bought one.
Hope this helps. Smile

OK, one more lock to add to my collection! I just picked my desk drawer at work! It took me about a minute or less to do.
It's a 5 wafer, double wafer tumbler...
The 6th wafer is a retaining wafer.

actually picked my first lock today. i still have no real picks, but i am using makeshift "whatevers" i can find and make. i had a wierd paperclip (i know what you are all saying right now..."dont use paperclips...they dont work well enough") but wait. this clip was like...a bowtie, i dont know what its actually called, but i got it at school and it is like 15x stiffer than all other paperclips. anyways...i picked the lock on my safe. its a sentry safe, i think it is a wafer (i really dont know, it just isnt pins) and there are only like 3-4 of them. nonetheless, with some experimentation i opened it like 5 solid times fairly fast. i want to work on KNOWING what im doing when i do it now though...lol. still, i think we all agree- your first lock is the coolest, or at least for me (until i open something cooler.)
