They rung me a few times the 118 lot and only after i told one of them to stop harassing me or i would contact the police did they stop calling.
Had ufindus.tossers call me today " have you heard of us ?" says the chirpy girl "yes i have" i say "loads of stuff". "really" she answers in an upbeat tone " yes " i reply " your a bunch of con artists who rip people off and are to be avoided at all costs !!! " at this point i cut her off
Im sick to death of all the sales calls and now dont entertain any of them especially as i am normally paying for the call divert to my mobile. Its getting bad on my home phone too as the telephone preference service has turned out to be a toothless wonder.

Nobody, absolutely nobody, with a sales manner lasts more than 5 seconds on my phone. As soon as I've established it isn't a job the phone goes down.
Had a couple of places (don't know who 'cos I take no notice before hanging up) ring me on my mobile lately. Sad when they're starting to harrass you on your mobile.

I use my mobile as my business number, so I like to keep them talking as long as possible, if I've nothing else to do. Might as well use up a little of their money.

It's all about the tension . . .

Yep definitely steer well clear. Same company as 118TRADES essentially, both owned by Dan Corby/Brad Chapman.
So they're still ringing round are they Its possible someone else has taken over from Dan though, could be Brad Chapman
I doubt 118TRADES will trade after whats happened anyway, as long as 118TELECOM is managed properly it should work ok, but I'm confused about these unique memorable numbers they advertise though because I thought BT bought all those already
Perhaps the staff dont realise their boss has been arrested

Oh yes the memorable number bit, i forgot about that. The idiot tried to tell me i needed one because if somebody was locked out and i drove past in my van they wouldnt be able to remember my number, i pointed out my van isnt signed up and agreed it would be hard . Then he goes on and on and i pointed out he knew my number so why change it ? He reckoned he couldnt remember it so i cut him off and sure enough he rang back, told you you could remember it, i point out PMSL. Ok so weve established you can remember it which means customers can too, hes now not happy ,but im reading from your website he says, EXACTLY thats my point, customers can too, goodbye.
The thing is the sales reps are absolutely crap at their jobs and they are so easy to run rings around, deviate from the script once and they drown

I've got a great number, 0845 355 0945. Doesn't help much, as far as I can tell, though. Still, I'm not throwing millions of pounds at advertising it nationally with the promise of work for people.
I signed up with Ufindus.com, and that was a waste, too. Very high pressure sales pitch. (Hammer them down to £200 for the sign-up if you decide to go with it. Otherwise just ask for the free listing.) I'm going to cancel it, as I've not had a single call off it. No way I'm paying £30 a month to carry on with no traffic! Mind you, it does help out my google pagerank a fair bit... but the free listing will still do that.
Oh, and send me £1000 and I'll give you 40 calls a day for a year. I'll have the auto-dialler do it. It'll drive you to distraction on a random setting.

Myself and an other locksmith also advertised with them last year, never got 1 single call. We haggled with the price and got it down to £300. They said there would only be 4 major adverts and there were 5. We complained and they said they would look into it. I sent them 3 genuine references and they never contacted any of them. I questioned their "no cowboys slogan" and asked them how they could monitor this with the call centres that advertise with them, they told me that they had not any call centres advertising with them 'THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF' Like so many companies out there, "you pays ya money and takes ya chance" It may work for some trades for it didn't for us.

Is there anyone else here that is getting calls from an 0151 number (& a Liverpool accent) promoting an 'annual' information booklet that is just "going to press" in YOUR area.
They have phoned me around 8-10 times claiming to represent the Police & various charities etc.
Offering 3 sizes of advert ranging from £90

There's one called the safety in schools booklet doing the rounds. They tell you the booklet has just been published and your advert is on the front cover as requested, then ask you for your address and payment details for dispatch. Obviosly you had said 'no thanks' when they called 6 months ago but they will try and say otherwise.

This company isnt just on watchdog
its got a huge customer complaints on a site called grumbletext and worth going on there and typing in 118trades or dan corby. It even has complaints from ex employees who never got paid and were employed by a bogus company.
If you also go to the essex chronicle and look up 118trades you will also find 2 stories on there and also the mirror investigates online .co.uk
Dan Corby was arrested by trading standards and the police and is due to go back to court.
The verification association is not legit. you will find this on grumbletext.co.uk when you read about 118trades and dan corby section. the verification association is owned by dan corby and isnt a legit compay.
He has alot of dodgy companies and has had over 75 complaints of money taekn in the thousands without consent and the money wasnt even owed. He just helped himself.

ps
it gives alot of information on the businesses he owns.
grumbletext has so much info and even on the search engines, all you have to do is type in 118trades or dan corby and you will be shocked how much is on the net about the seriously bad practices of dan corby and 118trades.
