Parking

Lockies,

What do you do if you can't find any parking on a lockout call (esp. auto lockouts, I suppose)? Do the police harass you if you double-park?

I just bought a motorcycle-- saddle tool-bags and all. Glad I don't have to worry about this one. :D

I dont double park but will stop on double yellows. My van has my business plastered all over it so i dont want a bad name for being the one who always blocks the road.
Round here simply parking on a road will block it up, i always go on the drive if they have one and if not park elsewhere and walk.

I park in the closest spot possible, then remove my picks and car opening tools (which are in a nice sturdy case) and walk.

HI

You would of thought that being a locksmith that you would be able to get some sort of permit so that you can park in places where other people cant. i know that being locked out is probably doesn't come under has a emergency but i expect there is some cases that you have to secure places for peoples safety. or if there is someone in house but cant get to the door e.g elderly. and speed would be of the essence and having to drive round looking for some where to park would be wasting time.

parking

You would only be allowed to park off the norm, if you were actually called out by the police, in an emergency (this is what i was told when i registered with them)
there's no such thing as gravity. The earth SUCKS!!

I got a local parking permit from my local council which allows me to park on double yellows and permit holders bays etc. It cost me a few quid but at least i dont have to worry about jobsworth traffic wardens (on commission) giving me a ticket.

regards

depends

Postby raimundo » 5 May 2006 10:37

it depends on how fast you can do the job and how quick the flic's are, and how wide the road is. UPS trucks block roads all the time, but they are quick. I knew a pilot who used to fly to Iran, back in the 70's crossing the balkans, he would overfly southern yugoslavia without permission, because he could get in and get out faster than tito could scramble the migs. :P
