Any tips on making better picks like Theese hacksaws are pretty ok 12 a pack 99p but think one of my hooks broke cuase i pin picked the ward.

When you put pick in and u think you just got a got pin but really your picked slided over to the ward and thats what confuses me sometimes but i it figured out now and i relised its not becuase of the pick.

The bit i circles black is the bit i use for some cuts on the edges and just running it up and down to help get lined up cuts.

I've made like 5 picks and the corners are getting a bit rounded but ill show u the benhc grinder i have later.

I sanded it down with emery paper and soapy water and chip oil to stop rusting it cause any oil will do 8) :P

then used brass polisher even know its silver and this is what it turned out like.

Your getting better Jason well done, after polishing it you do need to wipe the oil on, do the oil last then wipe off with a tissue

Yes chip fat oil is ok but make sure you use vegatable oil as its the most healthy

We were talking about chip oil for stopping them rusting, dont ever quench picks in chip oil.

Ya just i thought you where saying dipping it in chip oil after grinding

Is it ok to give your pick handle design with a marker then give it a coat of something and what?

You can do what you like Jason, find a marker pen that wont run when hit with a laquer then buy some clear spray on laquer or even better water based varnish brushed on neatly.

If you are doing that dont rub them with oil, if youve rubbed them with oil and cant get proper degreaser then wipe them clean with white spirit first or such like then let them dry properly,

You need to make all those picks a lot smoother first though before you start finishing them like that,

I believe that, in his last post, Shrub ment 'quenching after heating'. If you're not heating the picks, then you can be drowning them in oil all day long with no negative effects.
Heck! Make it two days!

;)
Ps. Nice work on those three picks in the lower-right corner Jason. That snake would look ok too, if it was not for that thin part before the 3rd bump.
