When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Possible DIY tubular pick? post ideas here..

I don't want to pay $80 USD (and im in aus) for a tubular pick, although its probably alot better,i just don't generraly want to.

Anyway, people say "just stick some paperclips through a rubber"
Im making that idea now and putting a sliver of metal in the notch of the lock for tension, which also goes through the rubber.

depends on what you want it for.

Locksmith? Buy a professional one based on usage, meaning high demand buy a peterson, if its once in a while just get a HPC, there shafts are better than SO's cheap ones.

If its a hobby, just fab. a tension wrench and use a hook.

If you jsut want ot build one for the hell of it cool, but dependeing on how good you want it you will prorobly spend more on your own. Unless oyu have the material and machinery.

i remember reading how to make one on this site. you basically take a tube and some rubber washers and depending if its for a 7 pin or a 8 pin you make grooves in the tube. use strips of windshield wiper inserts and line them around the tub in the grooves. then slide on the rubber washers to hold them in place. of course if you have a lock you would use the lock pins for the spacing of the marks on the tube. i can't remember what you use to tighten it down with. i know the info is here and it didn't look that hard to build a good one. if you know how they work you should get the ideal.

yeah sounds like a good idea, but i can't get metal wiper inserts in Australia, unless i order a car from the states, and you know i won't do that.
We only get plastic ones here,i went to all these auto-joints,but nothing...just plastic inserts.
